Strawberry Almond Oatmeal

  • ½ cup instant rolled oats (packets, original flavor)
  • ½ oz freeze dried strawberries
  • ¼ cup almonds chopped
  • teaspoon salt


At home

  • Portion out the oats, strawberries, and chopped almonds in separate ziplock bags.

In Camp

  • In your cookpot, combine 1¼ cup water and the oats. Cover and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cook for another minute or two and then turn off the flame and let it sit, covered, for 1-3 minutes until the oats have softened to your liking. Add additional ingredients for those who want them.


Resist the temptation to use bulk oats. The packet oatmeal has flavor and sweetness with which kids will be familiar. Some will welcome the additional flavors, some will not.
